The Catalan and Andorran governments speak about their commitment to the Andorra-La Seu d’Urgell airport

The secretary of Infrastructure and Mobility of the Catalan Government, Isidre Gavín, and the Secretary of State for Economy and Business of the new government of Andorran, Salustià Chato, have spoken of their commitment to the Andorra-La Seu Airport at the Strategic Table of the Airport.

During the meeting, commercial operations of aerotaxis have been analysed, which have grown 25% from January to June in relation to the first half of 2018. Last year there were 16, while this year there have been 20. Parallel to these operations other activities have taken place, such as the rental of the installation for private events, the Open Doors Day and the arrival and departure from the French football team to play in Andorra in June.

At the Table it has been explained that precautionary studies have already been sent to Civil Aviation for the future location of a H24 heliport to provide service to the emergencies of the territory. On the other hand, the new calendar of Instrumental Flight Rules (IFR) has been presented, which regulates the piloting of aircraft in conditions of reduced visibility, agreed with the Spanish Air Safety Agency (AESA). According to the calendar, the flight validation of the manoeuvre will take place next September. Next, the security study will be prepared and the documentation validated in the Interministerial Commission between Defense and Development (CIDEFO). The forecast is that the new IFR system can be launched during next spring.

Finally, the need for the Spanish state to approve the border point to be able to accommodate flights outside the Schengen area has been restated.
