The aim of this tender is to improve the runway to enable the airport to enable night vision operations (VFRN), following the incorporation of the IFR manoeuvre into the infrastructure a year and a half ago.
With this, the Generalitat de Catalunya complies with the agreement signed with the Government of Andorra which established the improvement of the operating conditions of the airport.
The tender budget is 526,000 euros and the execution period is six months from the award of the contract. These works consist of the installation of axis, end and track threshold lights, as well as the lighting of the vertical signaling panels and the obstacle lights of the wind hose of the two heads.
The execution of these works will not affect the operation of the airport, which will maintain the usual schedule.
In addition, the lighting works for the platforms of the two airports managed by Aeroports de Catalunya, Lleida-Alguaire and Andorra-La Seu, are being tendered for a total amount of 440,000 euros. With the lighting of the platforms, the management of the aircraft car park at the two airports will be improved, allowing night operation on a platform in both infrastructures.
With regard to the promotion, the Government of Andorra awarded the company Air Nostrum the operation of regular flights between the airport of Andorra-La Seu d’Urgell and Madrid that will start operating, from the 17th of December, every Friday and Sunday.
